Website Designs

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

I think I’m more or less settled on the name Work Mates. As previously mentioned, it is relevant, simple, and easy to remember. I have been working on some website designs over the last few days, the first of which were shocking. I was really struggling for inspiration and everything that I came up with seemed a little amature.

After browsing the web for some inspiration I came across a site that lead to my final choice of colour scheme. By deciding on this the rest of the design miraculously fell into place and I was instantly happy with the results. A nice clean design lets the user focus on the most important areas of each page – the video mainly, and the ‘added value’ content such as the extras and the cast information.

Currently, the imagery used is only temporary. The finished site will include images of the actual cast rather than me and Martin!

Long time no speak

Monday, December 8th, 2008

So it has been over a month since my last post… That is mainly to do with the fact that my dissertation has been taking up all my time and I haven’t been able to even think about anything else. My draft is now handed in and I am awaiting feedback, this means I can move onto other things in the meantime.

This blog is going to take a little turn in terms of the subject matter from now on. Although it is entitled The Future of Digital Media, I will be concentrating mostly on my studio work, which only happens to be vaguely related. The relationship is that I plan my comedy show to turn viral, and in my opinion, the future of digital media, specifically music, lies in word of mouth and viral advertising. Simple.

My studio project is progressing nicely. The scriptwriters are moving along with the script (although not quite as quickly as planned) and more aspects of the planning process are falling into place. I have had some interest from a couple of actors but would like a few more options before I meet them all. The poster has only been up for a week so hopefully a couple more people will get in touch.

I think I have come up with a name for the show. ‘Work Mates’ is nice and simple, relevant, and easy to remember. I have been playing around with a few logo designs and things and I have almost settled on one of them.

Some website designs are also coming together, although the availability of Work Mates related domain names are limited. The best option is work-mates.org I think.

Next things on the list are to get some photos shot for mocking up some scenes and building my first set of design-boards ready for my end of term presentation. I also need these for temporary website images until the cast is finalised.

Various pages of the website need working on and storyboards for the first episode need to be drawn…all before Tuesday/Wednesday of next week. I think I’ve got my work cut out!

I will be keeping this updated on a much more regular basis from now. More finalised ideas and designs will follow as well as other developments in the project…maybe even some script excerpts!
