In the last couple of days two of my clients have signed off their new logos. This is quite exciting because now I can progress more rapidly with the rest of their branding and website designs!
1. Muddy Faces:

This is actually the second new logo for Muddy Faces. The first (which was widely preferred) provoked comments that implied the possibility offense being taken by certain ethnic minorities. The logo was by no means racist in any way, however, the decision was made to develop an alternative in order to completely wipe out the possibility of it being mistakenly interpreted.
2. Star Precision:

The client was very specific with this logo. The challenge of realising the exact image that was held in his mind was quite a challenging, but interesting process. The bold simplicity of this logo lends itself well to the engineering sector in which it will be used.

I just stupidly upgraded Wordpress without backing it up and completely lost all customisation. Not good.
I’ll try and get it back asap. Until then, I’m sorry it looks so bad!

So I’ve just updated my entire portfolio – I’ve completely changed the design (I think this style represents me much better than the previous one), and I’ve added some new projects, and some new imagery for some old projects.
Originally, this blog tracked the progression of my final year at university, and every one of the 28 previous posts is on this subject. Whether it be the writing of my dissertation, or my technical study, or on the development of ‘Work Mates’. I have decided to leave this content in place for anyone who wishes to see how I got my degree, but from now on the topic of conversation will be quite different…
I will try and interest people by talking about current projects, posting up ideas and work in development, but I will also discuss the industry and how I am finding things at the moment – Whether that be problems, eureka moments, or just random things that I find out about or that I am interested in.
As for this first post, I’m afraid that’s it! But I will be back soon with something of significance just as soon as I’ve got a spare minute to talk about it.
Cheers,
Chris
p.s. I’m testing this WP to Twitter plugin too, so fingers crossed that works OK!

After completing the full edit I began to work on the post production. This involved chroma keying and inserting backgrounds, and also tweaking levels and and colours. This began quite well, but I soon realised that it was going to take a lot longer than expected.
With only two days to go I am almost certain that I will not be able to finish in time. I want to complete the project to the best of my abilities, and I will not be happy with the output if it is rushed. For this reason I have decided to concentrate purely on the first scene and finish this to the highest possible standard. This will demonstrate my skill and give a very accurate idea of how the final thing will look.
I am going to carry on working on the show after the hand-in and try to get it ready for the final year show. I want to complete it for my own satisfaction, but also because of all the hard work that both the script writers and the cast have put in to help me get this far.

Since the shoot I have been working really hard to get a full edit together. I was doubtful about whether I was going to get the whole thing together by the deadline, so I decided to ignore the post production and cut the episode exactly how it should be – but without any backgrounds.
I am very happy with the result. To begin with I was unsure as to how the audio would flow seeing as though it was not recorded separately. I was afraid that it was going to jump and cut between shots, but after a bit of work in Soundbooth it sounds fine!
The full edit is around 18 minutes long. It has all the sound effects and audio that would be in the final version, except from a couple of shots that will need to be taken from stock footage at a later date.
