"I have just graduated from the
 University of Huddersfield with a
 First Class BA Honours Degree
 in Multimedia Design."

What I do

I have a wide range of experience and a large skill set, which basically means that I am able to do almost anything. I can offer services such as web design and development, illustration, animation and video work, branding, and marketing (either online, or print-based).

I have a long standing background in fine art which enables me to draw either with traditional materials, or with a graphics tablet to create illustrations for a variety of purposes. I have in-depth experience creating websites that are compliant with the latest web standards and make it a priority to continually adapt to the changing environment, updating my knowledge when required. I spent a year working in online marketing and I am therefore able to produce email and banner campaigns to promote businesses and events. I also spent time studying video and post production techniques during my final year of university, which means that I am very familiar with organising video/photo shoots, casting, lighting, green screen, and all the appropriate software and hardware needed to complete adverts and promos.

My story

My name is Christopher Skelton and I was born and raised in Sheffield, England. I have been interested in art and the general creative process since a very early age and for as long as I can remember I have loved drawing, colouring, making and creating.

Moving through school I always strived to become better at art, getting very good grades at each level of my education, but it wasn't until college that I realised how vast the creative world is and that being an artist in the pure sense of the term would be a very difficult way of life; something that my childhood naivety had ignored. Thankfully my interest in technology; computers in particular, brought me in a new direction: computer based art.

In my early teens my father introduced me to the basics of HTML which initially sparked an interest, but was forgotten amongst the importance of my final years at secondary school. It wasn't until I began skateboarding that the 'Digital Art' scene became much more interesting as I wanted to create videos and web sites for the sport. In my final year at college, thanks to careers guidance, I learnt that degrees in multimedia existed and I decided to begin a BA in Virtual Reality Design (four year sandwich degree) at the University of Huddersfield in 2005. After completing two years of the degree and entering into a competition in mid 2007 I was announced as an official Student member of the Chartered Society of Designers. My third year at university consisted of a placement year. This was designed to give me invaluable experience in the industry and help improve my knowledge and skill base ready for my final degree year. I completed one month at Edinburgh agency Line Digital, and a further ten months at Next PLC in Leicester. My role here was as a junior Online Marketing designer and during the time I was with the company I was able to fine tune all my web design and development skills as well as learning to converse and collaborate with external agencies, critique work, and feed back amendments.

Now, after completing my degree and gaining a First Class BA Honours in Multimedia Design (I switched courses at the start of my final year), my aim is to burst into the design industry, doing what I love to do: being creative.
