About
My name is Christopher Skelton and I was born and raised in Sheffield, England. I have been interested in art and the general creative process since a very early age and for as long as I can remember I have loved drawing, colouring, making and creating.
Moving through school I always strived to become better at art, getting very good grades at each level of my education, but it wasn't until college that I realised how vast the creative world is and that being an artist in the pure sense of the term would be a very difficult way of life; something that my childhood naivety had ignored. Thankfully my interest in technology; computers in particular, brought me in a new direction: computer based art.
In my early teens my father introduced me to the basics of HTML which initially sparked an interest, but was forgotten amongst the importance of my final years at secondary school. It wasn't until I began skateboarding that the 'Digital Art' scene became much more interesting as I wanted to create videos and web sites for the sport. In my final year at college, thanks to careers guidance, I learnt that degrees in multimedia existed and I decided to begin a BA in Virtual Reality Design (four year sandwich degree) at the University of Huddersfield in 2005.
After completing two years of the degree and entering into a competition in mid 2007 I was announced as an official Student member of the Chartered Society of Designers.
Now, at the start of my Placement year I will be working in the design industry for a year to gain valuable experience for my future. This will hopefully also give me plenty of inspiration for my final year at University.
